Jannie Mae Carter Obituary

Ms. Jannie Mae Carter was born to the late Norman Carter and Abbey Wilson Carter, on April 24,1922. She, along with her twin brother, Julius Carter, were the oldest of five children of this union.  Ms. Jannie Mae Carter was married to the late Thomas L. Carter and out of this union were born five children. She was a devoted and dedicated mother who raised her children with love and care. She supported them, provided for them, taught them, and prayed for them.  

Ms. Jannie Mae Carter was a giver of her goods and service to others in the community. She was an excellent gardener and shared her vegetables with others as well. She enjoyed working in the garden and around her house. 

She loved flowers but loved cooking the most. She enjoyed laboring over a stove preparing delicious dishes to share with family and others. 

Ms. Jannie Mae Carter served the church as a faithful member serving as a choir member and as president of the senior choir. She also was a missionary at heart and participated with the women's auxiliary. Ms. Jannie Mae Carter was also a member of the Carter Prayer Band serving the community spiritually through singing and praying. She loved to read the Bible and discussing it daily. Most importantly, she loved the Lord!   

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Julius Carter, her brother James Arthur Carter, her sister Alvilda Williams, her daughter, Barbara Carter, her two sons, Larry E. Carter, and Marvin J. Carter. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Thomasina Carter Meade (Bob); her son, Kenneth N. Carter (Terri); her sister, Olivalue Turner; a host of nieces, and nephews, thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
