Mrs. Artis Maxine Heriot-Graham, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Ophelia Caldwell Heriot, was born in Lee County, South Carolina, on November 25, 1946. She entered eternal rest on June 26, 2019, at her home.
Artis was a very active senior, and a loving, caring, and fun person who was loved by many. She lived life to the fullest. She was educated in the Lee County Public School system. At an early age, Artis joined Spring Hill United Methodist Church, Rembert, South Carolina, where she served as chairperson of the Family Day Committee, the United Methodist Women, the Usher Board, the Trustee Board and the Gospel Choir. Artis also worked with The Lee County Voters Registration, Cassatt Water Company, and the Lee County Planning and Zoning Office. Artis was known for her signature hash/rice, collards, and other cooking skills. Artis was well-known throughout Lee County, Kershaw County and Sumter County.
She will be remembered as an individual who dedicated her life to family and serving others. She brought love, wisdom, and humor to those she touched and demonstrated commitment to all friends, family and her community.
