It is with great sadness that this loving family comes together to promulgate to all, the Earthly transition of their beloved, Marlin Michele Lykes King, who was escorted on the wings of angels to her Heavenly home on Monday, August 5, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Marlin was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on October 23, 1963, to Scott Lykes and the late Attiemae Lykes.
At the age of twelve years old, Marlin moved South Carolina with her aunt Alberta. She attended school in Camden and graduated from Camden High School in 1982. Marlin worked a local area business in the area until enlisting in the United States Army in 1986. While stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, Marlin met and married Buron King. From this union, Cherelle was born. After and Honorable Discharge from the Army, Marlin returned home and was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield for many years. She was currently employed with DHL Global in Cayce, South Carolina.
At an early age, Marlin gave her life to Christ. She began to understand the importance of God in her life and she was determined to live a life that was pleasing to God. Marlin joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she was an active member and participated in many church activities. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and writing.
Marlin leaves to cherish her loving memories, one daughter, Cherelle King of Camden, SC; a special aunt, Alberta Drakeford of Camden, SC; one grandson, Langston King of Camden, SC; a sibling, Michael Lykes of Georgia and a host of other relatives and friends.
