Reverend Joseph Henry Harrison, was born on June 14th, 1942, to the late Carrie Henry and Roosevelt Harrison. He entered eternal life on December 12, 2018, after a long illness.
He completed his education at Carver Elementary in Bethune, South Carolina. Upon graduation, Joseph began helping his family farm, where he affectionately gained the nickname, “Farmer Brown.” He later relocated to New York, where he served twenty-five years on the NYPD, retiring in 1992.
Joseph returned to South Carolina in 1991. He was a faithful member of Sandy Level Baptist Church, where he served as Associate Pastor, Sunday School Teacher, church van driver and in other areas of the church where he was needed. Joseph also served as Associate Pastor at Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Bishopville, South Carolina.
Joseph was a God-fearing man that loved to fish and spend time with his family. He spent most of his time studying the Bible and watching country westerns. He left a lasting impression on all that had a chance to know and love him.
Joseph leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of twenty-seven years, Mrs. Louise Harrison; four daughters, Theresa Haggins of Camden, SC, Josephine Harrison of Charlotte, NC, Pamela Hough of South Congaree, SC and Alma (William) Jennings of Prince George, VA; two sons, Timothy Harrison and Leon Haggins both of Bethune, SC; four sisters, Louvenia (Willie) Drakeford, Euzelia (James) Kelley, Mary Jackson and Betty Harrison all of Bethune, SC; four brothers, Levern (Judie) Harrison of Detroit, MI, William Harrison of Lexington, NC, James Harrison of Bethune, SC and Allen Harrison of Leesburgh, VA; a special granddaughter whom he raised Opal (Dewayne) Ponds of McBee, SC; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a special niece, Lateecha Davis of Bethune, SC; a special nephew, Tevin Brown of Bethune, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
