Sister Betty Powell Bennett, daughter of the late James and Ella Peay Powell, was born on March 13, 1940. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Betty accepted Christ and became a member of Rafting Creek Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Missionary Society, the Usher Board and any other duty appointed her. She was a true servant of God. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars.
Betty was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County and was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1960. She was employed at Georgia Pacific and also worked in the food service industry until she became employed by Mr. And Mrs. Michael and Tina Lockhart, where she worked until her health began to fail and she retired.
She was preceded in death byher parents, James and Ella Powell; one daughter, Mary Alice Powell; two grandchildren, Latasha Powell and Prince Powell; three sisters; five brothers and one great-granddaughter, Carolyn Denise Powell.
Betty leaves to cherish her fond memories four daughters, Tammy (Victor) Burch of Augusta, GA, Brenda (Michael) Adamson, Hattie L. Powell and Pamela (William) Releford all of Rembert, SC; two step chidren, Anthony Bennett of Columbia, SC and Pearl Bennett of Philadelphia, PA; she raised three nieces, Bonnett Nash, Faith Ann Glover and Natalie Glover and two nephews, Jessie Glover and Anthony Glover; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Powell of Rembert, SC; three sisters-in-law, Ruby M. Powell of Rembert, SC, Emma Powell of Flint, MI and Sarah A. Powell of Camden, SC; a very special friend of the family, Johnny (Short Cakes) James and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
