Mrs. Corine Talathia Allen was born in Camden, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Jackson and Mrs. Marie Wilson Reed. She entered eternal rest on September 18, 2019, at the Sumter East Health and Rehab Center in Sumter, South Carolina.
She was educated in the Kershaw County Public School System, where she graduated from Jackson High School in 1953. She worked for many years as a sewing machine operator and in the home. Sis. Corine was a life-time member of Good Hope Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Camden, South Carolina, where she was dedicated to worshipping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, serving the congregation as a faithful member of the usher board and member of the Gospel and Senior Choirs, encouraging her Sisters and Brothers in Christ with her loving smile and warm hugs, and supporting her pastors in their ministries. She was known everywhere for her love of singing songs of praise especially her testimonial songs: “I’m Alright Now!” and “It’s Getting Late in the Evening!”
Sis. Corine was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hazel Allen; her sisters, Mrs. Laura Silver, Mrs. Tina Brown, Mrs. Louise Fields, and Mrs. Carolyn Ellis and two brothers, Mr. Edward Reed and Mr. Willie Reed.
She leaves to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy of love: her daughter - Ms. Margaret Allen of Rembert, SC; her sisters, Mrs. Dianne Thomas and Mrs. Edith Drakeford both of Camden, SC; her four grandchildren, Ms. Cierra Dubose of Rembert, SC, Ms. Kionna Allen of Georgia, Ms. Siquasia Drakeford and Ms. Adaria Drakeford, both of Rembert, South Carolina; her five great grandchildren and a host of beloved family members and friends including her life-long friend Mrs. Janita Halley.
Mother Corine will be remembered by all who knew her for her love of God, her church and all of God’s children.
