Ellen Lenix Mickle

Mrs. Ellen Crowell-Mickle was born April 15, 1915, in Cassatt, South Carolina, to the late Deacon Joseph Lenix, Sr. and Rebecca Clarkson Lenix.  She entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 20, 2019, at her home in Cassatt, South Carolina.

Ellen married the late James (Jimmy) Crowell at the age of nineteen, and to this union one daughter, Lula Mae Crowell, was born.  Later she married the late Dalton Mickle. 

Ellen received her early education Cassatt and Hickman Schools.  She received her early religious training at Hyco Baptist Church and became a member at the age of twelve.  She worked faithfully in Hyco Baptist Church.  She loved attending Sunday School, working with the Missionary Society and singing on the choir.  She loved her communities and was respected and loved by all wh came in contact with her.

Her career path extended far beyond the realms of of most.  She graced the lives of many as a farmer, a DuPont technician and a Kershaw County Memorial Hospital employee.  Even at 104, Ellen continued to be a loving mother, sister, aunt cousin, confidant and friend.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, James Crowell and Dalton Mickle; a daughter, Lula Mae Crowell; her siblings, Joseph, Jr., Charlie, Dennis, Phillip, James, Bertha, Annie Bell, Essie and Rebecca and a granddaughter, Jeanette Jones.

Special recognition to her grandchildren, James, Shirley Rose, Edward, Joey and Kevin Jones and Yolanda Wall.  Recognition to her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren for providing a daily dose of warmth and kindness: to the late A. L. and Tressie Young for being great motivators and inspiring friends: to the late Fred and Marie Smith for the years of conversations and laughter.  Finally to her precious and caring niece, Minnie Hagins Dudley, for making this event possible and to the entire family for years of dedicated service. Ellen Lenix Crowell Mickle was a phenomenal, virtuous woman with an enormous amount of pride and wisdom.
