Ernest Robinson, affectionately known as “Top Cat” by his co-workers and other truck drivers, was born on March 2, 1959, in Bishopville, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Neil and Pauline Wright Robinson. Ernest departed this life on May 11, 2019, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
He was educated in the Lee County School District.
Ernest loved and cherished his wife and family. Family, to him and his wife, extended far beyond blood lines. He and his wife served as foster parents for nearly five years and provided a loving home for nearly twenty children who entered foster care as the result of abuse and/or neglect.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruby Robinson, Irean Robinson, Creela Robinson, Virginia Robinson, and Eva Robinson and one brother, Leroy Robinson.
Ernest leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Melissa Burch Robinson; six children, Jeremiah Robinson, Mariah Robinson, Katelyn Stevens, Tyrone Stevens, all of Camden, SC, Donnell Miller of Washington, DC, and Quanda Durant of Bishopville, SC; five brothers, John (Daisy) Robinson, Charlie Robinson, Larry Robinson, all of Washington, DC, and Leander Robinson of New Jersey; two god-children, Eli Johnson and Khylee Williams; six sisters-in-law, Tyson Robinson, Jarkeea Burch, Stacey Williams, Wanda Kennedy, Bessie Williams, and Carissa Fleming; four brothers-in-law, Pastor Johnny Blyther, Merrell Jenkins, Frank Fleming, and Joshua Fleming; father-inlaw, Frank Fleming; godmother, Patsy Hopkins; special friend and co-worker, Richard (Luvenia) Dix; and a host of other family and friends.
