Aaron Hough entered into eternal rest at Kershaw Health, on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Camden, SC. He was born on August 31, 1940, to Rev. Purdy and Sis. Christine Hough in Bethune, SC. He was the last of 13 children born. Only 11 lived to be adults. Andrew and Caleb died as toddlers.

Aaron accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 7 at Belmont Baptist Church in Westville, SC. He accompanied his father as he traveled and preached in the Bethune, Lucknow and Kershaw communities. It was during these times that Aaron’s love for God and people was ignited.
Aaron was a 1958 graduate of Jackson High School. He graduated and attended college at Benedict College in Columbia, SC. There he cut the lunch line and met his future wife, Martha. After graduation from Benedict in 1962, he returned to Jackson High as an Algebra teacher. In 1964 he married the former Martha Jefferson and to this union 3 children were born, Marsha, Amy and Matthew. They were married for 56 years.
Aaron wore many hats in life, husband, father, grandfather, teacher, principal, deacon, choir leader and community leader. He was always about his Father’s business. Even as he served the community on the Library, Hospital and United Way boards and the County Planning Commission. He was a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Inc and a member of the Hadoth Lodge #250. Aaron often told his children and colleagues, “People don’t care how much you know until you know how much you care.” Aaron retired after giving 46 years to the people of Kershaw County as a teacher and principal. His later years were spent in devoted service to his beloved New Hope Baptist Church where over the years he served as trustee, deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and Choir Leader.
Left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his wife, Martha J. Hough; his daughters Marsha Hough, Amy (Tony) Williams; his son Matthew (Dawona) Hough; his only granddaughter, Kelly Christine Hough; five grandsons, Marcus Aaron Stroud, Kordell Williams, Joshua Aaron Williams, Aaron Matthew Hough and Zion Matthew Hough; a sister, Rosa O.
