Ms. Carla Diedre Leftenant passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 18, 2020, at The Harmony Collection Assisted Living Center in Columbia, South Carolina. She was 69 years old. Carla was born on October 7, 1951, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert R. Leftenant and Victoria Stroman Leftenant of Amityville Long Island, New York.
She graduated from Amityville Memorial High School, New York on June 22, 1969, and then graduated from Suffolk County Community College, New York with an Associate of Arts Degree on August 13, 1971. She continued her education with the State University of New York Oneonta and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration on May 31, 1975. Carla then moved to Bronx, NY where she worked as a Human Resource Manager at UPS in Manhattan. After 22 years of service, she retired from UPS in 2009 and dedicated her remaining time to traveling across the globe.
Although Carla was a very feisty person, she always displayed her genuine concern and love for her only niece “Breezy” by being supportive and proud of all her accomplishments. She often talked about her aunts and friends in NY and all the good times they shared. After her unfortunate stroke in 2016, her sister Barbara relocated her from NY to SC so she could care and provide for her well-being. In the past few months though her health started declining rapidly and the Lord called her home on October 18, 2020.
Carla is survived by her sister, Mrs. Barbara Leftenant (Charles) Lloyd and niece Miss Brianna “Breezy” Lloyd of Camden, SC, four aunts and three uncles, Mrs. Nancy Leftenant-Colon of Amityville Long Island, NY, Ms. Amy Leftenant of Amityville Long Island, NY, Mrs. Gladys Bostic of Severn, MD, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred and Lillie Stroman of Bronx, NY, Mr. Harold Jackson of Mableton, GA, Mr. Phillip Jordan of Southern Pines, NC, and a host of cousins, family and friends.
