Donald Williams Obituary

Donald was born on November 1, 1961, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Elease McCord Williams and the late Clarence Williams.  He was affectionately and fondly known to many of his friends as “Donald Byrd.”  He departed this life on October 7, 2020, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Donald was educated in the Kershaw County Public School System and graduated from Camden High School in 1979.  He has been a lifelong member of Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church where he professed his faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He was baptized at an early age at his beloved Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church.  He served as a reliable and dependable Trustee.

During Donald’s early age, he met the love of his life, Bessie Graham.  They dated and enjoyed each others’ company for several years before they became Mr. and Mrs.  They married on April 18, 1981.  They continued to love, cherish and comfort each other until Donald’s untimely passing.

“Donald Byrd” had an infectious laugh and an upbeat personality.  He liked to cook steaks with all of the fat on it and make banana pudding.  Donald considered work as a hobby.  He was a jack of all trades.  He fixed computers, was an electrician and a construction worker.  He later started his own business from his many hobbies; Handyman Repairs (SC).  Donald was also employed with the State of South Carolina as a inspector.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; a sister Shaw A. Farmer and a brother, Clarence, Jr.

Donald leaves to cherish his precious memories his best friend, his soul mate and his wife of forty years, Bessie Graham Williams; his mother, Elease McCord Williams; three sisters, Ellen Nelson of Lugoff, SC, Mary Crowell of Detroit, MI and Dianne (Ricky) Miller of Rembert, SC; one brother, Clyde (Doris) Williams of Columbia, SC; two sisters-in-law, Rosa Holiday and Patricia Holiday both of Rembert, SC; six brothers-in-law, James Graham, Thomas (Linda) Graham, Charles Wilson, John (Earline) Graham, Steven (Dorothy) Graham all of Rembert, SC and William (Frances) Graham of Camden, SC; three special cousins, Gwendolyn Williams, Gloria Lanthan and Linda Bennett; a close friend and employee, Alvin Holloman; very special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Javon Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Rufus; two aunts, Nelly Taylor and Pearl Drakeford both of Camden, SC; three god-children, Justin Rufus, Katlyn Stevens and Taylor Holiday and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
