Johnny Ervin King, known affectionately as “Earl”, was born on August 7th, 1973 to the late Susie King of Bethune, SC. He entered eternal rest on April 22nd, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
He was educated in the Kershaw County School District where he graduated from Bethune High School in 1992. During his high school career he took interest in and studied brick masonry, auto-body repair, and welding. After earning his high school diploma, Johnny worked in retail before joining New South (now Canfor), where he worked as the Lead Boiler Operator for 26 years.
Johnny was a quiet and gentle family man who lived life as it came. He loved the simple yet meaningful things in life like spending time with his family and closest friends. He loved making jokes, working on cars, comedy, and scifi movies. He will truly be missed.
He is preceded in death by his late mother Susie Roxie King, his maternal grandparents Noel King and Roxie Gantt-King, and his late brother-in-law Charles “Butch” Ponds. Those left to cherish his memory include: His wife Wanda Blakeney King, his four children: Ervin King (Skylar), Kyrstin King, Austin Wright (Austin), and Kimberly Blakeney; his sisters Kathleen Ponds (Butch), and Mary Jones (Randy); his brother Johnny “Bobby” King (Brenda), one granddaughter Annabell King, two aunts: Lillie Mae Simon and Isabella Woods, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many beloved friends.
