Louise Ransom

November 18, 1936 ~ April 6, 2023 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Ella was born November 18, 1936. In Sumter County, to the late Deacon Harry and Elease B. Jenkins. At an early age, Ella accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Union Baptist Church. She attended the Union School of Sumter County for her education. She worked for Georgia Pacific, SkyLine and retired as a housekeeper for the Carmichael’s of Camden South Carolina.

In June of 1955, Ella married her longtime soul mate, John H. Ransom,Sr.  In the course of their marriage, they conceived seven children, of which two preceded her in death,  Almenia and Steve Ransom. Ella later became a member of the Pine Grove AME church. She served as a faithful member of Pine Grove Missionary, Pine Grove Usher Board, and Pine Senior Inspirational.

After her retirement Ella took that time to be a loving mother and grandmother. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a person with a huge heart and would bend over backwards and fold herself in half helping out someone if she could do anything. Her loyalty to the ones that meant something to her was unconditional love and support. Through her many health struggles, she never let it be a hindrance to be a help to anyone. Ella enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a well-loved member of her community. Ella’s life was an example of the Bible verse, Hebrews 13:16, “ And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Jenkins.

Ella passed away peacefully on Thursday April 6,2023, at her home. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved husband of 67 years, John H. Ransom, Sr; five children, John H.(Frances) Ransom, Jr and  Alberta (Allen) Reynolds both of Rembert, SC, Robert (Libby) Ransom of Lugoff, SC, Edward (Carla) Ransom of Killeen, TX, and Kirk (Ruthie) Ransom of Camden, SC. In addition to her children, she raised three grandchildren as her own, Sherman Ransom of Elgin, SC, Felicia and Allan Ransom both of Rembert, SC. Also mourning her loss are three sisters, Wilhemina Sanders, Viola Tomlin, and Isabella Council all of Rembert, SC; seventeen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
