Ruby Carter Obituary

Mrs. Ruby A. Carter was born in Camden, South Carolina on June 17, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Steven and Eva Bell Spann. Ruby entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

    
She married the late James H. Carter on February 2, 1960. They moved to Brooklyn, New York, where they raised four children. She retired from the New York City Board of Education as a dietician. After retirement, they returned to Camden, South Carolina to live. She loved baking (potato pies and bread pudding), gardening, sewing, word puzzles, and paint by numbers. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.


Ruby has gone home to be with her husband of fifty-three years; son-in-law, Diedor Williams and brother, Steven Spann. 
Left to cherish her memories and celebrate her homegoing are; two daughters, Doris Williams of Charlotte, NC and Frances Carter of Brooklyn, NY; two sons, James Carter of Bronx, NY and Casey (LaShina) Carter of St. Albans, NY; nine grandchildren, Diedor, Jr. (Rashida), Shatoya (Mac), Casha, Raymond, Dominique, Diona, Casey Jr, James and Kenneth; seven great grandchildren, Tasia, Taliyah, Keira, Diedor lll, Connor, Taylor, McKenzie and Chelsey; four sisters, Shirley Caldwell, Alberta Spann, Ollie (Willie) Carter, Elaine Wilson and a host of family and friends.
