Adam Sparks, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Adam Dennis Sparks, Sr., affectionately known as AD, was born on December 22, 1949, in Boykin, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Florence Stanford and Mack Edwards, Sr. He departed this earthy plane at the age of 72, passing away at home on May 6, 2022.

Adam moved to New York at a young age and would call New York home for many years. Adam was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War with an honorable discharge. Adam was employed by Con Edison electric company in New York City. He would later move back to South Carolina to be closer to family.

He was known for his avid love of all sports and all NY teams. He was always ready to watch a good ballgame and give his opinion on why they were or weren’t the best of the best. Anyone who knew him, knew that he was in his zone when watching sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Florence Stanford and Mack Edwards, Sr; Brothers Larry Edwards and Allison Sparks; Sisters Thomasina Edwards and Janice Dennis.

Mr. Adam Dennis Sparks, Sr. will be truly missed and is survived by his children, Darryl Sparks of Pittsburgh, PA, Adam (Melody) Sparks, Jr. of Teaneck, New Jersey, Shawn (Sasha) Sparks of Charlotte, NC, Omeshia (Homer) Sparks of Lexington, SC, Jamel and Lavon Sparks of Soudview, New York; Brothers, Mack (Evelyn) Edwards, Jr of Columbia, South Carolina; Gary Sparks of Lynchburg, VA; Terrence Edwards of Camden, SC; Sisters, Mattie Mae Gant of Camden, SC; Minnie (John) Jenkins of Flushing, NY; Connie (Thomas) Dais of Rembert, SC; Bridget Holland of Lynchburg, VA; Veronica Tarawally of Lynchburg, VA; Josephine Simon of Camden, SC, Betty Corley of Camden, SC; Santana Stuckey of Camden, SC. Grandchildren, Kayla Sparks of Florence, SC; Homer and Taylor Torrance of Lexington, SC;  a host of nephews, nieces, other loving family, and friends. All who knew Adam (AD) will forever remember his strong personality, outspoken opinion and his love for his grandchildren.
