Alfred Gene Jenkins

Alfred Gene Jenkins was born November 24, 1962, to Daisy Thomas Jenkins and the late Glen Jenkins, Sr. in Kershaw County. He departed his life at his residence on October 23, 2024.

He attended Lee County Public Schools and graduated from Ashwood High School in 1980. He started his employment at Springs Mill in Lancaster, South Carolina, then he was later employed by Defender for Kendall Manufacturing Company. He was hired into Kendall as a full-time employee where he remained until his accident in 2006.

He was a loving family man who helped coached his son’s little league teams. He also was an avid sportsman himself playing basketball, softball, and bowling. His biggest passion next to his kids was fishing and he was always willing to help others.

He met his wife, Cheryl Council-Jenkins, in 1991 and married in 2004. Together they were blessed to have three sons. He was preceded in death by his father Glen Jenkins, Sr.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Council-Jenkins, his mother Daisy Thomas Jenkins; three sons, Jermel Council (Rembert, SC), Altrell Jenkins (Bishopville, SC), Alvonta’ (Rhonda) Jenkins (Cleveland, OH); five siblings; Abdul (Najiyyah) Lateef (Wilson, NC), Thomas Jenkins (Camden, SC), Glenn (Mary) Jenkins, Jr. (Bishopville, SC), Donald (Tonya) Jenkins both of Bishopville, SC), Glenda (Jonathan) Henry (Bishopville, SC); aunt Elizabeth Phillips; two sisters-in-law, Diane Mills and Harriet (Earnest) Wingate; two brothers-in-law, Joe Council, Jr. and Harvin (Cheryl) Council all of Camden, SC; four grandchildren; a caring mother-in-law, Isabella Council; one god-child, Glentiya Jenkins; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
