Mr. Charles “Sonny Boy” Carter was born in Camden, South Carolina, on June 9, 1941. He was the son of the late James and Estelle Murphy Carter and stepson of the late Frances Carter. Charles entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at his home, in Camden, South Carolina.
Charles was a workaholic. He retired from Kershaw Memorial Hospital. After retirement from the hospital, he started a landscaping business he called his girlfriend, which was more of a hobby than work.
Charles was raised in a Christian home and at an early age, Charles joined St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
Charles has gone to be with his loving parents and three brothers, James carter, Jr., Willie “Yack” Carter and Joe Carter.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are two brothers, Ralph Carter of Columbia, SC and David (Geraldine) Carter of Camden, SC; five sisters, Deanne Jolly of Columbia, SC, Shirley Easley, Yvette Carter, Margie Stuckey and Vivian (John) Nelson all of Camden, SC; a sister-in-law, Ruby Carter of Camden, SC; he helped raise and support from an early age, Jailese Murphy of Camden and Irena Murphy (US Navy) stationed in California and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
