Charles Henry Nelson, Jr., was born August 26, 1942, in Lee County, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2025, at Prisma Health Toumey Hospital. Charles was the son of Ida Mae Pickett and Charles Henry Nelson, Sr.
Charles Jr. worked at Chase in New Jersey for thirty-two years before retiring. He moved to Rembert, South Carolina, in 2005. He joined Union Baptist Church, Rembert, South Carolina, where he became a member of the Male Chorus Choir.
Charles was a man who had a beautiful spirit. He never complained. Even through his sickness, he still managed to laugh and say, “Oh I’m good.” Charles had a unique laugh that always ended with him saying, “Isn’t That Something.” Charles was a man that loved his God. He would listen to his gospel music, sing hymns and pray throughout the day. One of his favorite songs to sing was “Singing Alright.” Charles was also a man of immaculate style. No half stepping when it came to his appearance, from his clothes, to his shoes, to his skin care.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Pickett Nelson; his father, Charles Henry Nelson, Sr.; his sisters, Evelyn Nelson Farmer and his daughter, Dawn Nelson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his three grandchildren, Marquis (Allie Grace) Nelson of Trenton, New Jersey, Chartre’ Nelson of Columbia, SC and Dakarai Nelson of Trenton, New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Zariyah Nelson and Ezekiel Nelson; one nephew, Ezra Farmer; six aunts; one uncle; one brother-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
