Christina Salmond Obituary

Mrs. Christina Chestnut Salmond was born on May 15, 1921, to the late Mr. July and the late Mrs. Louise Halley Chestnut Thompson in Camden, South Carolina.  On the morning of June 17, 2021, she entered in the church triumph.

Mrs. Salmond was raised in a Christian home and at an early age she accepted Christ and joined the then St. Matthew Methodist Church, which is now the St. Matthew United Methodist Church.  She attended school in Kershaw County. She was married to the late Mr. David Salmond Sr., to which six children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. She was a loving wife and mother to her children, grandchildren,  great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Salmond was a faithful church member and served on the Usher Board, was a member of the United Methodist Women, sung on the Senior Choir and assisted with the service of the Holy Communion.  She was the Mother of the Church and remained faithful until her health failed.

Mrs. Salmond worked as a cook for Mr. William M. Wilson and family, where she was loved and respected as a member of the family.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Apostle Allean Spellman of Lugoff, SC, two sons, Charlie Mack (Vivian) Salmond and Kenneth (Mary) Salmond of Camden, SC; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Cotton Salmond; special children, Rhet Wilson, her husband, John Deegan of McDowell, VA and John S. Wilson of Camden, SC; adopted daughters, Alma Coleman Green, Dorothy Coleman Tucker, Cheryl Coleman Major all of Camden, SC; a special  niece, Pearl S. Mills of Camden, SC; a special nephew, Bishop Henry Salmond, Rosedale, NY; a special friend, Tracey Branham Trapp of Ridgeway, SC; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
