Mrs. Cynthia “Cynt “ Pearson, age 88, was born in Camden, South Carolina, on September 15, 1936. Cynthia was called home to Glory on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at home surrounded by family in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Cynthia was the oldest of seven children born to the late Leroy and Jessie Brown Lewis. She was educated at Boylan Haven Mather Academy until her junior year, and graduated from Jackson High School, Camden, South Carolina, in 1954.
Cynthia joined Ebenezer AME Zion Church, Camden, South Carolina at an early age and was an active member, serving on several boards/committees as long as she was physically able. Cynthia worked as a bus driver for Kershaw County Schools until her retirement in 2003. Cynthia enjoyed going to church, watching basketball, gossiping on the phone with her three special friends Bonnie Gaither, Martha Halley, & Minnie Owens. She enjoyed listening to gospel music with a little Al Green on the side.
Cynthia was proceeded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter Lewis, Sr. and two sisters, Danetta Belton and Verline Jones.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter Tina Frye (James) of Southern Pines, NC; two stepsons, Louis S Pearson, Jr. (Janet) of Virginia Beach, VA and Larry S Pearson, Sr. of Camden, SC; eight grandchildren, Cynthia and Arielle Combs of Atlanta, GA, Milan, Chyna, Stephanie & Louis Pearson, III of Virginia Beach, VA, Leron Wheeler of Highpoint, NC and Isaiah Pearson of Charlotte, NC; four great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Jordan, Inara & Lotus of Atlanta, GA; two aunts, Ruth Brown Kirkland & JoAnn Brown of Camden, SC; two sisters, Magnolia Nelson of Charlotte, NC and Betty McClure of Camden, SC; one brother, Richard Lewis of Camden, SC; three sisters-n-law, Louise Lewis of Charlotte, NC, Reverend Vernell Stukes of Jamaica Queens, NY and Bernice Leazer of Charleston, SC; one brother-n-law Theodore "Ray” Jones of Camden, SC and a host of nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends.
