Deacon James McAllister Obituary

Deacon James Moses McAllister was born the youngest of ten in Timmonsville, SC to the late Mr. Willie McAllister and Mrs. Miona McAllister on April 3, 1954. He celebrated 44 years of holy matrimony with his loving wife, Christina Mathis McAllister. Their union was blessed with two sons, Telford McAllister and Eric McAllister, and nine grandchildren: Akiem Thomas, Tii-Shawn McAllister, Malaysia McAllister, Isaac McAllister, Chanel McAllister, Kayden McAllister, Samaiya McAllister, Faith Zyon General, and Kingstin McAllister.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Malissie Mae Collins, Mack McAllister, John C. McAllister, Willie Mae McAllister, and Annie Ruth Simon.

In addition to his devoted wife, children, and grandchildren, he leaves behind five beloved siblings: Pastor Levem (Pastor Joyce) McAllister of West Hempstead, NY; Deacon Henry McAllister; Mr. Curtis (Annette) McAllister; Mrs. Evelina {Willie) Durant and Mrs. Patricia (Robert) Hyman, all of Timmonsville, SC. He also leaves behind loving in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Deacon McAllister was a devout Christian who gave his life to Christ at an early age at Macedonia Holiness Church in Timmonsville, SC. Upon relocation, he became an active member of Gunter's Chapel Baptist Church and remained in their fellowship for over 30 years. He was ordained as a deacon under Pastor Lewis Gunter in 2003. In addition to his service on the Deacon Board, James served as president of the male chorus, assigned deacon and member of the musical choir, church videographer, and transportation ministry member. Deacon McAllister loved singing for the lord and participated in two gospel music groups, The I. M. Singers and The Taylor Brothers. Recently, he connected with Union Baptist Church in Rembert, SC.

His love for the Lord and people was evident in his profession. After being educated in the Florence County Public School System, James began working in the medical field as a dedicated servant to his community, at various hospitals in the midlands.

In the presence of his ever-devoted wife, at their residence, Deacon McAllister departed on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. James brought joy to his family as a faithful and dedicated husband and father, and as a father and grandfather figure to many. He will always be remembered for his love of God, devotion to his wife and service to his family, church and community. Though he is absent, his legacy of love, joy, and devotion remain. His memory will be cherished.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)- ''Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths."
