Derrick Nathaniel Greene was born to Lula Stuckey Greene and the late James “Curly” Greene on July 1st, 1963 in Camden, SC. God took Derrick to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
He received his early education in Harlem, New York and later moved and finished in the Kershaw County School System. After high school, Derrick attended Fayetteville State University on a basketball scholarship, but due to unfortunate circumstances Derrick was not able to stay and returned home to help his family.
Derrick received Christ at an early age at Spring Hill United Methodist Church and later joined Emmanuel United Methodist Church under Watchcare.
Derrick was preceded in death by his Daddy, James “Curly” Greene, one sister, Marilyn Greene, and one niece Our Angel, Tanisha Hughes.
Derrick leaves to cherish his memories children, Melissa (Richel) Carnegie of Charlotte, NC, Xavier (Nikita) Harris of Augusta, GA, and Marcus (Lauren) Greene of Petersburg, VA, Kenneth Qualls, Jr, Keandre Qualls, and Kennedie Qualls of Lugoff, SC. 10 grandchildren, Camille Harris, Kiana Harris, Xavier (AJ) Harris, Ziya Harris, Xavion Harris, Kori Greene, Kross Greene, Kali Greene, and Ryleigh Carnegie; his fiancé, Kimberly Bennett; two brothers, Anthony (Chastity) Greene and Darcy Greene of Camden, SC; one sister, Manarsha (Damone) Washington of Camden, SC; three nephews, Tony Greene, Jr, Trey Greene and Tyler Greene; three nieces, Taryn Greene, Maegan Washington and Morgan Washington and a host of cousins and friends.
