Mr. Don “Lope” Wilson departed his Earthly life on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Springdale Nursing Home in Camden, South Carolina. Don was born on June 22, 1970, in Elliott, South Carolina, to Mary Wilson and Willie Byrd.

He grew up in Elliott, SC, where he attended the public schools of Lee County. He graduated in 1988, taking a general studies diploma.  After graduation, Don joined and became a member of the United States Army, where he became an Airborne Specialist. Yes, our Don jumped out of Airplanes and fought for our Country in the Gulf War. He was a part
of the 82nd Airborne Division. We are grateful to Don for his service that earned him notoriety throughout the Lee County area. After leaving the Army, he found employment with many different agencies. He was with his last job for over 20 years at Santee Print Works in Sumter, SC. He was a hard worker, a good friend, and a great comedian. He knew how to make you smile and had a wonderful personality.

Don leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Alexis Wilson of Bishopville, SC; mother, Mary Wilson of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Cindy (Rubin) Billie, Mrs. Terry (Adam) Rouse, and Mrs. Dionne (Marion) Gregg; seven nephews, Brandon (Shonda) Wilson, Brad Wilson, Sherman Wilson, Christopher Rouse, Christian Rouse, Shybleke Gregg, and Jaden Gregg; three nieces, Brittany Wilson, Elbony Wilson, and Acoia Gregg; six aunts; five uncles; close friends, Corey King, Jamie Wilson, Emmuel Simon, Wallace Wells, Bobby Primes, Tyrone Primes; and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and many close associates.
