Earnest Hayward, Sr. was born in Kershaw County, South Carolina, on March 6, 1943 to the late Isaiah Hayward and Melissa Ashe. He passed away at his home in Bethune, SC, on November 27, 2024.
Earnest was married to his wife Ida Mae Hayward, who cared for him until his last day, for 58 years.
Before his retirement, Earnest was a long-time employee of Thompson Logging. Earnest spent his retired days calling friends and family, drinking cold Pepsis, and watching news reports.
Earnest leaves to cherish his memory doting family, including his loving wife Ida Mae Hayward, one daughter, Linda Dobie of Bethune, SC, and one son, Ernest Hayward Jr. (Miyiescha Hayward) of Columbia, SC, two granddaughters, Charity Canty of Columbia, SC, and Tanisha Canty of Lugoff, SC, and three great grandchildren, Cherish and Irish Commander of Bethune, SC, and Bashir Champion of Columbia, SC.
Earnest also leaves behind his brothers, Isaiah, Richard and Keith and many nieces and nephews, and a number of friends who will miss his daily calls.
Earnest's sense of humor, love of music and country ham, and deep caring for his family and friends live on in all our hearts. He will be remembered fondly and missed often.
