Edward “Maurice” was born on January 24, 1970, in Camden, South Carolina to Edward and Mary Elerby.
He joined Ebenezer A.M.E Zion at an early age. He later joined Mill Creek Baptist Church during his adult years. After Maurice graduated from North Central High School in 1988, he briefly attended Columbia Junior College. He was a chef before transitioning to a career as a painter.
Maurice enjoyed fishing, attending car races and watching WWE, Sanford and Son and The Andy Griffith Show. He was fascinated with his dog but most importantly he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Maurice departed life on March 1, 2025. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Robert and Lucille Jenkins; paternal grandparents, Ezell and Almeta Elerby; uncles, Robert Jenkins, Jr., Ezell Elerby, Jr. and aunt, Willie Mae Brown.
Maurice leaves his cherished parents; sister, Robyn (Jonathan) Jones; children, Miranda Elerby, Megan (Michael) Hinson, and Cash Young; granddaughters, Kyree and Jada; nephew, Kenyon Maurice Booker; nieces, Ivy Jones and Jona Jones. He is also survived by his special aunts, Mable Bracey and Jesse Jackson; an uncle Tony (Claudette) Elerby; special cousins, Wanda (Corey) Barnes, Tennille Elerby and Latasha Quarles and his godmother, Sandra Shields and a host of other relatives and friends.
