Mr. Furman Osborn Brisbon, the son of the late Ms. Ellanora Brooks and the late Mr. Joe Council, Sr was born on May 4, 1953, in Rembert, South Carolina. He was raised by the late Mr. & Mrs. Mackie and Reba Mae Brisbon, Sr. Furman entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Furman grew up in the New York area where he received his education in the New York Public School Systems. Being raised by a God-fearing family, he attended services at Springhill United Methodist and Pine Grove AME Church. He served as a trustee giving his knowledge and time.
In 1972, he joined the United States Air Force, serving nearly five years throughout Thailand, Myrtle Beach, and more. During his traveling he later settled in Columbus, Ohio, where he worked at DFAS for several years making lots of friends with his kind friendly attitude. Upon retiring, Furman returned home to Camden, South Carolina to enjoy his family. Furman was always full of love and a laughter that will never be forgotten. His greetings were always with a huge hug and kiss.
Furman was preceded in death by his: birth parents and loving parents; two sons, Todd Showell and Dewayne Brisbon; two sisters, Mattie Green and Reba Mae Brisbon and one brother, Bruce Council.
He leaves precious memories to be cherished by: his daughter, Trizenia “Kenya” Brisbon (Maurice) Simmons of Summerville, SC; two uncles, Samuel Sessions, Steve Brooks; one aunt, Hattie Pearl Dinkins; five brothers, Mackey Brisbon, Jr., Albert Brooks, Joe Council Jr., Harvin (Cheryl) Council, Ellis (Barbara) Wells; seven sisters, Minnie Riley, Alice Brooks, Ella Pearl (Dean) Wright, Sandra Whiting, Dianne Council Mills, Harriett (Lamont) Wingate, Cheryl (Al) Jenkins; eight grandchildren; a very special assumed daughter-in-law, Ethel Duren; dedicated friend/helper, Joe Duren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
