Garadie Timothy Jones, beloved son, friend, and community servant, entered into eternal rest on August 1, 2025, at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on August 8, 1962, in Camden, South Carolina. He is the son of the late Wylie Emerson Jones and Gladys Williams Jones..
Garadie was educated in the Kershaw County Public School System and later transferred during his junior year to Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy, where he developed a strong passion for science and industrial arts. He graduated with the Class of 1980.
Following his graduation, Garadie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enlisted shortly after high school and completed four years of honorable service, receiving an honorable discharge in July 1984.
After returning home to Camden, Garadie continued his commitment to service through his work with the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff and the South Carolina Workmans Compensation Rehabilitation Office in Richland County, where he worked as a security guard. Known for his kind and compassionate nature, Garadie was deeply respected by his colleagues and all who knew him.
A man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, Garadie found joy in reading and was often seen at the local library. He was a faithful member of Camden First United Methodist Church, where he served as a steward and was active in the United Methodist Men. In recognition of his dedication and humility, Garadie was honored as “Man of the Year” by the United Methodist Men on Father’s Day 2025, a tribute to the love and light he shared within the congregation.
To know Garadie was truly to love him. His loving care for his mother, his gentle demeanor, and his willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Gladys Williams Jones, along with a host of loving family members and cherished friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
