Janie Mae Belton of Camden, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at Prisma Health Heart Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Janie spent her life in Camden, graduating from Jackson High School and retiring from HBD Thermoid.
A devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church BRR in Camden, South Carolina, Janie served as a trustee, usher, Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry. She was known for her generosity, faith and sense of humor, always ready to help others in need.
Janie is survived by her children, Maurice Belton (California) and Audria Belton (Georgia); daughter-in-law, Janet Belton; son-in-law, Windell Dobson; grandchildren, Alexa Noelani Belton, Madison Leinani Belton and Schemar Dobson; siblings, Naomi Small and Elaine Belton (South Carolina), James Belton Jr. (North Carolina), and Robert Belton (New York); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Maebell Belton; sisters, Thomasena Belton and Betty Belton; and brothers, John Belton and Charlie Belton.
Her warmth and compassion will be deeply missed.
