John Cabbagestalk, affectionately known as “Jay,” was born to the late James Cabbagestalk and the late Alice Porter on March 22, 1936.
He met and married the love of his life Bertha Cabbagestalk in Camden, SC on his birthday in 1991. He retired from the gas station in Washington DC. He worked with his brother as a brick mason. He was a jack of all trades. He was an active member of Mt Zion Baptist Church and New Haven Methodist Church. John entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Cabbagestalk; a son Joseph Cabbagestalk; his brothers, Ernest, June, Edward, Henry, and Troy Cabbagestalk and one sister, Betty Cabbagestalk.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a step-son, Ronrico Robinson; step-daughters, Helen Nelson, Edna/Boogie (Steve) Avery, Lorren-ney/Scooby Robinson (Larry Whitaker) all of Washington, DC; his brother, Joe Cabbagestalk, who he lived with; a brother-in-law, Bruce Butler; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Cabbagestalk and Carol Williams and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
