Joseph (Duke) Nelson

Mr. Joseph “Duke” Nelson was born on October 10, 1958, to the late Thomas Nelson and Hattie Mae Nelson. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 15th, 2019, at home with his family by his side.

Joseph was educated in Lee County Public Schools and raised in a Christian home. He was employed by Dana Corporations for several years. Joseph was an avid automotive enthusiast and very well known within the community and surrounding areas.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lucious Nelson & Glenn Nelson and a sister Carolyn Nelson Powell. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and caring daughter Erin Glee (Desmond) of Chesapeake VA; granddaughter, Lahryn Glee; two honorary children that he loved and cared for as his own, Jessica Broughton (Marcus) of Greenwood SC, and Breyon Stratford of Jacksonville, FL. He also leaves to cherish his precious memories his extremely strong and devoted mother Hattie Mae Nelson (Arthur), two sisters, Thomasina Bennett and Corinne Johnson (Stanley) both of Rembert SC; one brother, Anthony Nelson of Columbia SC; nine aunts, two uncles, a host of beautiful nieces, wonderful nephews, a loving family and a host of special friends.
