Mrs. Lalla Mae Nelson Brisbon was born June 26, 1930, to the late Moise, Sr. and Dollie Murphy Nelson of Rembert, South Carolina. She entered into her heavenly home on Friday, February 15, 2019.
Lalla was raised in Rembert and attended public schools of Lee County. She was a woman of faith and was a member of Piney Grove AME Church until she met the love of her life, H.B. Brisbon and was married July 31, 1949. After this union, she joined Springhill United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member of the Missionary Society.
Lalla had a passion for serving others most notably through cooking. She worked as a cook at West Lee Elementary School for over 23 years. Lalla had a love for family, gardening, canning and baking. You would never leave her home without being offered a plate or something sweet to eat.
Lalla leaves to celebrate her memory: her children Sallie, Kathleen, Herbert, Jr. (Martha), James Edward (Hettie); her 14 grandchildren: Renia, Willie Ryan, Charlie Rosetti (Rasheedah), Frank (Natasha), Brad (Tiffany), Shalawn, Latoya (Brian), Herbert III, Neal, Nicole, Trina, Trese, Morris (Maria), Felicia and 25 great grandchildren; sisters Almeta (Sammy) Jenkins and Jessie Mathis; sister-in-laws: Hattie Mae Nelson, Louise Nelson, Lolla Nelson and Janie Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
