Leon T. “Sonny” Halley was born on May 21, 1951 to Leo Halley of Sumter, SC and the late Earline Halley Sumpter. Leon was reared in Brooklyn, NY and was educated in the New York school systems.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons: Leon Halley, Jr. of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Antonio Lee Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada. A daughter: Sherese Whitfield of New York; two special-daughters, Julie Williams and Olivia Williams Mingo of Kershaw, SC; six grandchildren; three sisters: Sandra (Kenneth) Halley Scott of Sumter, SC, Harriett McNeil and Wilhelmina Halley of New York; four aunts: Diana Miller of Long Beach, California, Dorothy Halley of Rembert, SC, Ruth (Dele) Omonijo of Camden, SC, Frances (Simon) Bolden of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Two uncles: Lawrence (Iola) Halley of Lugoff, SC and Sam Halley of Camden, SC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Earline Halley Sumpter, a son, Leon Halley, III, two brothers, Johnny Halley and Jimmy Halley.
