Lillie Buie-Johnson Obituary

Mrs. Lillie B. Johnson, age 77, of Camden, South Carolina, entered her eternal rest on September 7, 2024, in Jonesboro, Georgia, with family by her side after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Daughter of the late Hamp and Lillie Bell Beaufort, Lillie was born in Camden, South Carolina, on June 29, 1947, the fifth of nine children born from this union.

Lillie attended the Kershaw County public school system.

A woman of strong faith, Lillie was a member of Good Hope Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed praising our Lord and Savior. Lillie enjoyed spending time with her family, hosting events, and taking pictures for keepsakes. Lillie also enjoyed getting down on the dance floor when she was able to and making collard greens for her granddaughter, Madison. Lillie loved her family so much that she often times worried more about the well being of others then her own self. That was Lillie, selfless, loving, and a woman of God.

Lillie leaves behind her loving husband of 26 years (married for nine years), Arthur Fred Johnson, Jr.; she also leaves to cherish her memories: her two sons, Terry Moses of Camden, SC, and Antwan (Machlie) Buie of Jonesboro, GA. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Isom Jim Buie, who passed away in 1996; one brother, the late Hamp Beaufort, Jr.; and two sisters, the late Annie Porter and the late Rosa (James) Moses. She leaves to cherish her memories: her two sisters, Luella Outen of Columbia, SC, and Janet Moses of Camden, SC; three brothers, Grant (Margie) Beaufort, Sam (Judy) Beaufort, and James (Evelyn) Beaufort, all of Camden, SC; brother-in-law, John Johnson of Camden, SC; two sisters- in-law, Edith Brevard of Hyattsville, MD, and Rebecca Reed of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Erica Adamson of Los Angeles, CA, Marrissa Buie, Madison Buie, and Arya Trinity Buie, all of Jonesboro, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who loved her so much and will miss her dearly.
