Lillie Mae (Canty) Lyles

Ms. Lillie Mae Canty Lyles was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. Gilbert and Daisy Canty, Sr. of Cassatt, South Carolina. She was born April 30, 1936, and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday September 10, 2025 at her residence.

Ms. Lyles was educated in the Kershaw County Public Schools. In her earlier days she was a housekeeper who later became a caregiver to many of her grandchildren. She joined Green Hill Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully on the Missionary, the Senior Choir and the Women’s Auxiliary Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bishop Mack Lyles Sr., both of her parents, by a son, Ray Lyles, and two daughters, Minister Celia L. Bowman and Shirley A. Nelson, brothers Gilbert “June Bug” Cantey, Jr., Thomas”Sonny Boy” Cantey, Walter “Bookey” Cantey, Willie “Bubba” Cantey, and a sister, Dorothy Cantey O’Neal.

Those left to cherish her fond memories, grieve her passing and celebrate her home going are: three sons, Mack (Linda) Lyles Jr. of North Carolina, Lorance Lyles Sr. of South Carolina, Charles Lyles of South Carolina; one daughter, Geraldine L. Scott of South Carolina; one sister, Lottie (Joseph) Lykes of Elgin, South Carolina: two special friends, Ms. Elizabeth Kilgo and Mr. Robert Massey both of North Carolina; eighteen grand-children and a host of great grand-children, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, all of whom have gathered to share the grief caused by her departure, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
