Mrs. Lillie Belle White Qualls, born on May 19th, 1939, in Blaney, SC, to the late Claude and Roxie Thompson White. She departed this earthly life on January 2nd, 2024.
Lillie Belle, affectionately known as Lillie, was a compassionate soul whose life was a testament to selfless service. She devoted over 40 years to nursing, starting at Columbia Hospital on Harden St. and later contributing her skills to Richland Memorial Hospital. Her unwavering commitment extended to the Department of Mental Health at Crafts Farrow. Following retirement, she continued to impact lives as a dedicated bus driver for the Kershaw County School System and a valued member of the GI Lab at Kershaw County Memorial.
A faithful member of Greenhill Baptist Church, Lillie actively served on the Senior Choir, Missionary Board, and Trustee Board. She also held the role of Sunday School Clerk. However, her most cherished role was that of a wonderful mother, grandmother, and wife to her husband, Leroy "Sonny" Qualls, whom she married in the early sixties.
Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Qualls, sisters Dorothy Brown, Catherine McCloud, and Mattie Belle Tucker, and brothers Albert Belton, Eddie Belton, James White and Lewis White. She was also preceded by sisters-in-law, Rosa Lee Weaver, Fredonia Richardson, Melita Owens, Sadaria Broome, and brother-in-law Jerry Martin.
She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her three loving children: Beverly Inmon of Elgin, SC; Tony Qualls of Columbia, SC; and Casey Qualls (Lawanda) of Elgin, SC. Lillie is also survived by five grandchildren: Ronald Outen (Natasha), Shemica McDow (Edward), Casey Qualls Jr., Gavin Frazier, and Nicholas Frazier. Her memory lives on through six great-grandchildren, Reonna, Serinity, Jamarius, Malachi McDow, Tierra and Jeremiah Outen.
Lillie is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Henrietta (Rev. Johnny) Gibbs and Mrs. Vermell (Jesse) Gibbs, and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Geraldine Richardson, Mrs. Maria Martin, and Ms. Donnel Starks. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Willie (Loretta) Qualls, Rosevelt (Betty) Qualls, Derrick Richardson, Lewis Broome Jr., Thomas Owens, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Lillie's life was a beacon of love and service, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
