On Monday, August 11, 2025, the beautiful soul of our beloved son, brother, father and life long friend entered into eternal rest and into the arms of the Lord free from pain and suffering.
Luther Carven McMorris was born on July 2, 1953. He was the son of the late Tench and Catherine McMorris. Luther was best known for his love of family, history and basketball.
At an early age, he fell in love with the game of basketball. Luther’s class of 1971 was the first class of integration in Camden, South Carolina. Luther enjoyed the game and he and his fellow teammates went on to take Camden High School to their first tournament. While attending school, he also excelled in his classes but his favorite subject was political science.
Luther was involved in equal rights movement of the 1960's. This is where his interest in the law was born. Luther graduated from high school in 1971 and went on to Johnson C. Smith University, where he majored in political science and always playing his game of basketball. While attending college, he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry McMorris, Leroy McMorris and Horace McMorris; his baby sister, Patricia Ann McMorris Lewis and a grandson, Aubren Harris.
Luther leaves behind loving memories and those to celebrate his life and homegoing, his daughter, Ebony (Robert) Harris; one granddaughter, NyAsia Harris; four grandsons, Zaedrion, Jacari, Jayden “Juke” and Kaleb Harris all of Salisbury, NC; sisters, Bertha McMorris Lawton, Hester (Jessie) Grant both of Camden, SC; brothers, Tench, Jr. (Carol) of Camden, SC, James (Kimberly) McMorris of Riverdale, GA and Patrick (Lucy) McMorris of Southern California and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
