Magglen Drakeford, affectionately known as Maggie, was born on October 15, 1945, in Camden, South Carolina, to Hammie Drakeford, Sr. and Vannetta Drakeford, both of Camden, South Carolina. She gained her well deserved wings and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
Magglen had three boys, Anthony Drakeford, Tony Clay and Robert Drakeford, whom she loved with all of her heart and would do anything she could for, even giving them her last if that's what was needed. Magglen, a long time resident of Englewood, New Jersey, has been a member of many different churches as she's lived in several places throughout her life and always found a church home no matter where she resided. She served on many different ministries as well including but not limited to usher, choir, food, etc. She was even a longtime member of Macedonia both in her earlier years and then later years when she moved back home with her mother Vannetta in 2006.
Maggie loved people, football, family, bowling, and most of all, the Lord. She would sit and talk about God and his goodness to all who would listen. She was truly a beautiful gift from God that would be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Hammie Drakeford, Sr. and Vannetta Drakeford; her brother, Hammie Drakeford Jr. and her eldest son, Anthony Drakeford.
Maggie is survived by her two sons, Tony Clay of Concord, NC and Robert Drakeford of Elizabeth, NJ; two grandchildren, Jared Dwane Drakeford of Delaware and Jamal Clay of Portland, ME; three great grandchildren, Ike Clay, Capri Clay and Alani Clay of Portland, ME; two sisters, Patricia Ann Drakeford of Richmond VA and Patricia Sue Drakeford of Hackensack NJ; one brother, Tony Drakeford of Hackensack, NJ; one sister-in-law, Ann Marie Drakeford; nieces Tia Drakeford of Bergen County NJ, Latoya Drakeford of Hackensack NJ, and Kenya Drakeford Jackson of Richmond VA (who is also her goddaughter); nephews Tito (Tanya) Drakeford of Teaneck, NJ and Damian (Ronitra) Drakeford, Sr. of Monroe NC; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
