Mary Bennett Obituary

On April 6, 1938, God blessed the late Samuel and Mary Holliday with their first baby girl Mary Holliday Bennett affectionately known as “Mae B”.  On the evening of January 27th, 2020, Mary quietly slipped away to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Kershaw County Memorial Hospital.

Mary attended the public schools of Kershaw County. She received her CNA at Kershaw County Memorial Hospital and was employed there for thirty plus years.

She was married to the late Peter Bennett, Sr. and then later married Henry Sanders.

Mary was a life-time member of Good Hope Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Camden, South Carolina where she was dedicated to worshiping God, and serving the congregation as a faithful member of the usher board until her health declined, and even then she didn’t let that stop her. She also was apart of the United Methodist Women and the stewardship. She loved her God and her church.

Mary loved fishing, and her pets, and making sure her garden was full of vegetables that she would quite often share with her family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Alice Bennett; a son, Peter Bennett, Jr. (Peewee); two brothers, Samuel Holliday, II and Wash Holliday; and two brothers-in-law, Grannison Warren and Clarence Holmes.

Mary was loved by all of her family and she leaves to cherish her memories three loving children, William Bennett (Susan) of Charlotte, NC, Carolyn D. Miller of Camden, SC and Barbara Woodard of Charlotte, NC; five step-children; a special son/grandson, Jason Bennett (Sara) of Charlotte, NC; eleven  grandchildren, Charlie (Danielle), Wanda, Amber, Channing, Cory, Pamela (Antonio), Patrick, Erin and Callesia (Anthony); seventeen great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Rosa Holmes, Francenia Warren, Mabel Holliday, Isaiah (Geraldine) Holliday, Suzannah Holliday, Easter (Burgoyne) Barnhill, Lawerence (Estelle) Moses, James (Pamela) Holliday and Thomas (Edna) Holliday, Sr.; two brothers-in-law, James Bennett and Michael Bennett (Odessa); six sisters-in-law; Linda Bennett, Pearl Bennett, Alberta Bennett, Nettie McClendon, Carolyn Houston, Vivian Barnes and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
