Mary Jones Halley affectionately known as “May,” entered into eternal rest on August 3rd, 2021, at her home in Camden, South Carolina. She answered the Lord’s call with a peaceful smile.
Born in Camden, South Carolina, on January 28th, 1933, she was one of fourteen children. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Rebecca Jones. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Mount Joshua Baptist Church, Camden, South Carolina. Mary received her education in the Kershaw County public schools and retired from H.P. Kendall Company after twenty-nine years of service.
Mary was known for her loving ways, generosity, and delicious cakes. Her family and community now treasure the memories of her toasty kitchen and mouth-watering meals that she served every Sunday and on special holidays.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacy Pollard, three sisters, and ten brothers.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her children David Jones (Althea), Elizabeth Jones, Rebecca Jones, George Jones, Hazel Halley, Harvin Halley (Denice), Michael Halley (Tiana), Jackie Halley, Kenneth Halley, nurtured daughter, Lori "Nikki" Smiley; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; special niece, Ollie Thompson-Brisbane; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
