Mary Frances Harper-Adams, 77, died peacefully on June 4, 2021.
She was our long-serving family matriarch; she was instrumental in establishing the Mather Academy historical site as well as preserving Cedars Cemetery from encroachment by the city. She positively impacted the lives of people far and wide.
She was preceded by her parents, John Roy Harper and Mary Frances Smith-Harper, her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Lee Adams, Jr., USA, and her brother, Atty. John Roy Harper II. She was an alumnus of Mather Academy, and attended South Carolina State University where she met and married Thomas Lee Adams, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Martina LaRiah Adams-Davis (Walter), her son, Thomas Lee Adams III, three grandchildren, Harper Marielle Davis, Margaux Alexis Davis, and Thomas Lee Adams IV, and one niece, Francesca Margo Harper (Eric). She is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
