Patrick Smith Obituary

Patrick Antwan Smith, born December 20, 1986, in Camden, South Carolina, passed away on September 28, 2025, at MedStar Washington Center, with his beloved mother by his side. A true miracle from the very beginning, Patrick was clinically dead at birth but was resuscitated, beginning a life marked by resilience, strength, and love.

Patrick was born to Barbara Bennett, Lee Smith, and Anthony Taylor. He spent his early years in Camden, SC, attending Camden Elementary School, before moving with his family to Wilmington, Delaware in 1992. He continued his education at Baltz Elementary School in Elsmere, DE, and then went on to Conrad Middle School, where he excelled academically—earning all honors and proudly becoming the first student to receive the President's Award.

He attended Thomas McCain High School and later completed his education through Adult Education in 2007. His passion for helping others led him to pursue training in massage therapy.

Patrick was a dedicated and hardworking man, beginning his career at Rugged Warehouse (later Gabe's), where he served as store manager for 14 years. He continued his leadership and service at Royal Farms, where he remained a store manager until his passing. Patrick had a gift for making those around him feel seen, heard, and valued—leaving lasting impressions on coworkers, customers, and friends alike with his warm smile and genuine conversations.

Patrick married his high school sweetheart, Felicia Megginson, and together they built a beautiful life over 15 years. They were blessed with two cherished children, daughter Skylin and son Liam. Patrick's greatest joy in life was being a father. He lived each day for his children, who were always his top priority and the center of his world.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Skylin Smith and son, Liam Smith (mother Felicia Megginson) of North Delaware, his mother Barbara Bennett Woodard (James Simmons) of Charlotte, NC; father Anthony Taylor (Linda Taylor) of Camden, SC; and father Lee Smith of Camden, SC, and grandmother Ruby Floyd of Camden, SC.  His siblings: Jason Bennett of Charlotte, NC; Anthony Taylor, Jr. of Portland, OR, Wanda Smith of Charlotte, NC; his twin sister Pamela Johnson (Calvin Johnson) of Myrtle Beach, SC, sister-in-law Sara Bennett of Charlotte, NC, He is also remembered lovingly by special friend LaTonya Patterson of Baltimore, MD and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by grandmothers, Mary Maybe Bennett and Bessie Smith, grandfathers, Henry Sanders, Peter Bennett, and Johnny Smith, and uncle Peter Bennett, Jr.

Patrick will be remembered for his kind heart, compassionate spirit, and gentle soul. He had an unmatched ability to comfort others—always ready with a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and a shoulder to lean on and cry on. His radiant smile and sincere warmth left a mark on every person he met.

Though gone too soon, Patrick’s legacy lives on through his children, family, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten..
