Mrs. Rebecca McClain Stuckey, was born on May 5, 1945, in Rembert, South Carolina. She was daughter of the late Thomas and Annie Bell McClain. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center, in Camden, South Carolina.
She was raised in a loving home with her mother and grandparents along with her siblings. After growing up, she accepted Christ and joined Pine Grove AME Church, where she became a member and served on several auxiliaries there. She was a member of the Adult Choir, Missionary Board and Usher Board, serving faithfully until her health began to fail.
Pocketbook, as she was lovingly called, was known by many for all of her flowers, cooking and baking. She cooked many meals and feed whomever stopped by. She was a loving and generous babysitter. She nurtured almost all of the neighborhood babies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Josh Stuckey; her father, Thomas McClain; her mother, Annie Bell McClain; grandparents, Robert Grant and Lougenia Ransom; her twin brother, Issac and brothers, Harry’O (Butch), Joseph and James Ray.
Pocket leaves behind one son whom she gave her heart to, Johnny Arthur McClain; her siblings, Perry Ransom, Ernest (Deloris) McClain, of Clinton, MD, Evelyn (James) Beaufort, Elizabeth McClain, Bobby McClain, Ethel (Javon) Jones and Arthur (Pamela) McClain; her sweet and loving grandchildren, Joshua, Jasmine, Darius, Jonee and Dai’reon; one uncle, Marion Ransom; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gambrell, Sadie Lenix, Thomasina Stuckey and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
