Rev. Celia Ann Lyles Bowman, daughter of the late Bishop Fletcher Mack Lyles and Lillie M. Lyles, was born on August 6, 1955, in Elgin, South Carolina. Rev. Bowman departed this life at Prisma Baptist Hospital on March 7, 2020, surrounded by her children, other family members, and her loving Pastor and his wife.

Rev. Celia Bowman attended the public schools of Kershaw County. She held various positions throughout her career at numerous facilities. Rev. Bowman was a person full of love and patience and showed these attributes in each position she held. Throughout her career she worked as a House Parent with Pine Grove School for Autistic Children, Unit Secretary with Palmetto Richland Hospital, Charge Nurse with The Department of Mental Health Alzheimer’s division, Moncrief Hospital, and Department of Corrections. Rev. Bowman retired from Correct Solutions in 2019 as a result of her illness.

Rev. Celia Bowman joined Green Hill Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age. She was the Advisor of the Sunbeam Choir for various years, she was one of the original members of The Usher Board and later became the President of the Usher Board where she served for many years. Rev. Bowman was a member of the Green Hill Inspirational Choir where she sang until her health prevented her from participating. She was also over the Health and Wellness ministry and a member of the Missionary ministry.

Rev. Bowman will join her loving husband, Stanly Bowman; one sister, Shirley Nelson; her father, Bishop Fletcher Lyles, her father-in-law, Lewis Bowman and her mother-in-law, Peggy Eloise Bowman in eternal rest.

Rev. Bowman leaves to cherish her fond memories, her mother of the home, Ms. Lillie M. Lyles;, three daughters, Kymberly Harris of Columbia, SC, Lanita Bowman of Columbia, SC, Crystal Bowman of Sumter, SC; two sons, Jonathan L Nelson of Columbia, SC and Anthony Nelson of Shelby, NC; nine grandsons, Ja Quan Z, Harris, Jaelin S.Phillips, DeMarcus Bowman, Daniel Sheppard, Kahmeel Cooke, Tramarial Cooke, Malachi Clark, Dallas Taylor, and Ayden Nelson; three granddaughters Mikayla Richards, Lyllian Bowman, and Aaliyah Nelson; one great-grandson, Hasani Z. Harris; her siblings, Mack ( Louanna) Lyles of Camden, SC, Charles Lyles of Columbia, SC, Geraldine (Michael) Scott of Columbia, SC and Lorance (Brenda) Lyles Sr. of Monroe, NC; her in-laws, Gloria Jean (Benjamin) Barber, Lorenzo Bowman, Iris Bowman, Deborah Ashford, Joyce (Robert) Morris, Spencer Bowman and Bruce Bowman all of Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
