Russell Salmond Obituary

God called upon Russell J’von Salmond on Thursday, February 13, 2020 to his Kingdom away from sickness, pain and sorrow.

Russell was born on September 17, 1968 at Queens General Hospital, Jamaica, New York.  He was the first son of the late Esther Mae Salmond and Leroy Anderson. He was taken home by his doting Uncle and Aunt late Jack and Maria Goodwin. Russell was a welcome bundle of joy to the Salmond and Goodwin household.  He was raised in a loving Christian home.

Russell accepted Christ at an early age as his personal Savior. And became a member of the local Church in South Carolina.  He served God by confessing his Faith. Russell was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County, South Carolina. He graduated from Camden High School.  After graduation, he relocated to Queens, New York, to attend Queensborough Community College. During that time, he was employed at Alexander’s Department Store. Afterwards he began a career at the Con Edison Company.

Russell returned to Camden, South Carolina, and began a career with The South Carolina Department of Corrections. With his kind cheery smile and loving disposition, Russell endeared himself to all who knew him. He was an avid lover of music and even tried his hand as talent promoter/scout. He was affectionately addressed as “Russ”, “Big Russ”. He was a loving son, nephew, husband, and father. He was very protective of his family that he loved dearly.  Russell was also a devout supporter of his family.

When his health declined. Russell’s walk of faith grew stronger.  It was awesome to witness him pray with family members when he visited them, and testified how God had healed him.

Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Hazelene and his parents, Esther Mae and Leroy.

Russell leaves to mourn his sad passing three children, Allexus, Amir, Christopher; one brother, Willie Hammond his wife and their two daughters, eight uncles and aunts, a grand-aunt, Mrs. Christina Salmond, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
