Sammy "Duk" Holiday, beloved husband, father, and friend, departed this life on September 20, 2024, at the age of 71. Born to Alberta Ransom and Louise English, both of whom preceded him in death. Sammy was raised in a loving Christian home in Lee County, where he developed his strong values and unwavering faith.
Sammy attended public school in Lee County and later dedicated his life to his family and community. He worked in construction for many years before his health began to decline. Sammy was widely known for his exceptional BBQ skills, bringing joy and delicious meals to family gatherings and the community. His warm spirit and generosity left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Joyce Johnson and Grenda Prickett.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia Wilson Holiday, his beloved siblings, including Kenny Canty (Kelly) of Fayetteville, NC, and Doris Martin (Terry) of Westville, SC and his cherished children: Sammy Lamont Holiday (Kisha) of Rembert, SC, Cheryl Holiday of Sumter, SC, Wanda Holiday Sumpter of Camden, SC and Choney Holiday (Frantonia) of Camden, SC, Alexis Wilson and Quinten both of Bishopville, SC, Lynn of Woodrow, SC, Betty of Camden, SC and Moronda of Woodrow, SC.
In addition, Sammy is remembered fondly by, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as 4 uncles and 2 aunts, and host of nieces and nephews all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.
